17 Breathtaking Engagement Session Locations in Michigan
I am a big fan of engagement sessions! So, here are 17 breathtaking engagement session locations in Michigan, First, they allow you to get comfortable in front of the camera. Picking your location can be as easy as a place that means a lot to the two of you; where you first met, where they asked the question, where you like to spend time together, etc. If those don’t work for you or you want something different for your photos here is my list of 17 breathtaking locations for dream engagement photos. There is something here for everyone’s style from the city, to parks, to lakes, and beyond.
Detroit Engagement Session Locations
I love Detroit, I really thing the whole city give a variety of different locations for people engagement photos. From Classic to casual there are so many hidden gems to find. These locations are some popular locations my couples love getting their photos taken at.
Belle Isle Conservancy : Belle Isle is a great place for stunning dreamy greenhouse engagement photos from the fountain to The Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory. This is such a classic and elegant spot. You do need a permit to have your engagement session here, Your engagement photographer should be able to acquire it for you.

The Belt-Library Street Collective: such a hot spot and so cool if you have never been there before. Its a great little artist alley around Library St. Know that if you go on a Saturday around sunset tables come out as the alley is the outdoor dining patio for a handful of restaurants in the Alley. Weekdays or Sundays are the best.

The Z-Library Street Collective: This parking deck attacked to the Belt is where you can get amazing views of the skyline in your engagement photos. I love shooting on the Z lot if you can make it your sunset spot.

Wayne State University: If you love mid- century modern architecture then the Wayne state University campus is the place for you. Make sure to be mindful about when you are going, as class could be in session. I could spend all my time on the campus.

The Detroit Institute of Arts Museum: I love The Detroit Institute of Arts, the back steps are really the showstopper. This is a popular spot so be aware you may have to wait your turn if others are there using them . You can only be outside, you cannot have your session inside the museum. The entire grounds are breathtaking so you are going to have a beautiful session here.

Ann Arbor Engagement Session Locations
Ann Arbor is such an amazing college town. There is so much to explore and take photos of, it could be manicured parks, to the grungy downtown look you want for your photos,. This place has it all, this is only a few of the hidden gems that is in Ann Arbor. There is so much to explore.
University of Michigan Nichols Arboretum : is located on the U ofM Campus. It has the peony gardens in the spring, and beautiful foliage year round. This place is huge and there are so many sweet spots to take photos of. I do recommend comfortable shoes or if you want to wear heels in your photos bring slip ons to walk around it otherwise your feet might not be your friend after.

University Of Michigan Law Quad: is another amazing spot on the U of M Campus, if you love old gothic (Hogwarts vibe) This place as a lot of stone work and cute cuddly dreamy spots for your photos. Though it’s important to note that the U of M students are often lying in the grass studying or hanging out during the nice weather days, so you might have people in the background of your photos.




Park Engagement Session Locations
One thing I love about Michigan is that there is nature everywhere and so many beautiful parks to run off to, to take your engagement photos. If you want the tall tress, a storybook garden or something that is some where in between there is a park for you. These are a few of my favorites in Michigan.
Kensington Metro Park (Milford): you cant go wrong at Kensington, there are paved paths, bridges and beautiful trails for whatever your nature heart desires. Everything is a little more magical here. You and your engagement photographer will need to pay to enter so be mindful of that when visiting any of Michigan’s Metro Parks.



Indian Springs Metropark (White Lake): This Metro park has more wetlands and stall grass so if you love that for your photos this is the park for you. Though DO NOT walk through the tall grass because there could be snakes that are protected. So make sure to stick to the paths. The top of the hiss is the perfect spot for sunset photos.

Lake Side Engagement Session Locations
Absolutely Breathtaking Engagement Locations
I love traveling outside of South East Michigan there are so many cool spots for photos. If you are up for the drive or hike so am I. Michigan literally has so many amazing breathtaking locations that make it feel like your in a different state all together.
Silver Lake Sand Dunes (Mears): I cannot state this enough. I LOVE THE SAND DUNES. Everything about this location is magical and if you are going to have your session here make sure you dress up it makes the final images so stunning! This is a location where you need to really give up on the idea of shoes. You will get bogged down with them and get annoyed with how much sand get’s in their shoes. This entire session looks like it was shot in the desert.

Muskegon State Park (Muskegon): If you want to have dreamy and dramatic lake photos and the Sand Dunes look as well the Muskegon state park is your park. There are so many amazing locations here. Make sure you are either willing to explore with your engagement photographer or get a photographer that knows the hidden gems. Be mindful if you go on a Saturday in the Summer there will be a ton of people.


These are some of my favorite locations all over Michigan and can really give you a unique location for your engagement photos. There are so many other amazing spots in Michigan but a girl can’t give away all of her secrets. I hope this helps you plan the best engagement session for you.
