Kitchen Flip! (Week 1)

It’s been a 3 months secret but we are doing something so exciting!! We are Flipping ouR kitchen! When I first mentioned it, Chris thought I was joking. I was not. We currently have a kitchen that isn’t that functional. The lack of counter space just makes it hard to really prep or really make the things we want. Here’s the current space.

Now, I know that we could have just re-done this layout and called it good. I really wanted an island to prep on and it’s hard to cook and move around if multiple people are in it. Someone is always in someone else’s way. So, I Want to flip my kitchen and move it here.

This space always feels empty, but you can’t really add more furniture without it feeling cramped, I tried. Here is what the new space will look like.

Do we love this?! I mean I do so… I am most excited about the 10ft Island. 10ft of prep space and luxury. We have picked white Shaker cabinates but the island is a rich navy blue! I seriously am in love with the navy. The fun curve ball in this is the build in bar area where part of the old kitchen is.

The dishwasher in this image would be a beverage cooler but I’m pretty pleased with the extra stroage space we added. So, you may be thinking “This is great Carolyn but why do you have to destroy your floors?” Well, our house sits on a slab and to move the gas, & plumbing we have to break in to the floors. We don’t want to but it’s really the only way.

Hopefully, we can get this done this week to then be able to cut up the floor and move all gas & plumbing the way we need to. If things move smoothly, we will have the whole project done by the end of July (Fingers crossed)

Here is what the floors will look like after, along with our kitchen sink and countertops.

So, that’s what we’ve been up to! What do you think? Am I crazy or do you love it? I can’t wait for it to be done and share the final look!
